One of my favourite sessions at last weeks’ Manitoba Indigenous Writers Festival had to be the talk by Sherry Farrell Racette about how the work of illustrating books found its way into her life and stayed.
I was especially delighted to see some of the original artwork Sherry prepared for Freda Ahenakew’s 1987 Wisahkecahk Flies to the Moon – in Cree (SRO) and English – still in print, and still available through Pemmican Publications. It was my privilege to help with that book, too, and a joy to see multiple copies sitting there for kids in Winnipeg’s Millenium Library.
Here’s a link to ordering information directly through Pemmican in Winnipeg:

I see the book is also in stock, and can be ordered online from McNally Robinson.
