A few photos of the Cree Literacy Network in action in Edmonton for a workshop on development of 21st Century Tools for Indigenous Languages. Wonderful discussions around Cree language, linguistics, and helping build tools that will support them! Hoping to get out in a bit to join the National Aboriginal Day celebrations.
- Dawn Marie Marchand lectures volunteers who will help interpret her residential school-releated art installation “A Place to Hang Your Stories” at The Works Visual Arts Festival in downtown Edmonton.
- Showing one of Dawn Marie’s “Sky Ponies” paintings to Florida Thunder, who told me to take good care of the painting, because those are spirit horses.
- Meeting new colleagues – greeting old friends – from First Nations University, University of Alberta, Carleton, and Tromsø.
- UofA has manufactured a new cover for the tipi donated to them by Florida Thunder. It sits just outside Dorothy’s office in Pembina Hall.
- Stepping up to Dorothy’s window to say good morning, I found this one small carpet bugle blossom – the only one in bloom so far – reaching out to Dorothy’s window.
- Saturday morning – Day 4, but still working hard. Trying to imagine the day when we’re not *still* talking about verbs! lol!
