National Aboriginal History Month Day Twenty-two: iyiniw kâ-kiskêyimiht

Urban Native Magazine and Regina Aboriginal Professionals Association have launched a photograph challenge (for Facebook, Twitter and Instagram) in honour of National Aboriginal History Month. They’re using the Twitter hashtag #NAHM2015PhotoADay.

Here at the Cree Literacy Network, we’ve decided to play along, by gathering the images suggested – but (with help from Solomon Ratt) captioning them in Cree.

For Day Twenty-two, the word is Native Celebrity:

Today our photos are of Solomon Ratt’s nominee for “native celebrity”: Regina DJ and rapper, Brad Bellegarde. The photo we’re using is one of Solomon’s own, and Brad is the guy in the blue shirt. And in honour of Brad’s rapper persona, RedInfo, here’s a link to a CBC performance of his rap, “I Remember” :
