Scheduled for April 2016 release, and now available for pre-order from the University of Regina Press. Let’s all help make this a best seller!
In Neal’s own words:i tried my best to honour the work of my late nôhkom (grandmother) ida mcleod (vandall) in the writing of this book. i thank all of the old ones who have passed on, but who have helped ground me in kinêhiyawêwinanâw (our cree language). now is our time, now is the time to bring back the sound of our ancestors to the world, and to leave a legacy for our children and grandchildren.
special thanks to arok wolvengrey for his help with this work. he is the sam to my frodo. the chewie to my han solo. arok, mitonê kitahkakipitên. arok, you are truly deadly. and thank you to my late nôhcâwîs, burton vandall, êkwa mîna edward caisse-pan, êkwa mîna charlie burns-pan who spent countless hours teaching me cree.
please note all of the royalties from this book will go to a bursary in the name of my late nôhkom (ida mcleod) and the late freda ahenakew. both of these fantastic and amazing cree women set the ground for us to stand on – a ground where we can see an amazing future where our language will come back stronger than ever.
and thank you to the university of regina press for helping bring this book to life.
