Google Mapping for Oral History

This Globe and Mail article features Stz’uminus elder Ray Harris along with Brian Thom, a UVic anthropologist and Google mapping specialist.

Read the full article here, but also take time to click on the map they’ve attached, and the push pins where they’ve included oral history. (http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/british-columbia/oral-history-goes-digital-as-google-helps-map-ancestral-lands/article19566302/)

With help from Neal McLeod, Cree Literacy Network has begun a similar project, mapping Cree Place names – and photos from the area. Additional oral history should also be attached. I’d love to see this project grow some more for Cree!
