  1. This makes me smile. When I was a child, living in Churchill, Manitoba, my Mom signed me up for Brownies, sort of against my will. But my Dad sat me down with the Brownie Handbook and we looked through it together to see what Brownie badges I could work on. I grew a little dispirited as we turned the pages. Horsemanship? Tennis? And then finally, snowshoeing! And that was the Brownie badge I got. Just that one. I had to learn those snowshoe parts in English. If only my Dad had known how to teach me those words in Cree. Thank you, Solomon and Arden, for brightening a long winter day.
