Sasquatch Walks on Water: Solomon Ratt (th-dialect)

It’s been a while since we’ve had one of Solomon Ratt’s made-up stories. This one is about how Sasquatch walked on water!

ikwâni îsa wîsahkîcâhk kî-otihtam kihcikamiy. kî-nôhtî-âsowaham ikosi kâ-ati-pakâsimot. tâwakâm kâ-kî-isko-pakâsimot kî-ati-nîstosiw, ta-nistâpâwîw îtokî! Then Sasquatch came upon the ocean. He wanted to cross it so he began to swim. Toward the middle of the ocean he became tired, perhaps he'll drown.
kîtahtawî kâ-pisiskâpamât miskinâhkwa î-pakâsimothit.Then he noticed a turtle swimming along.
"îh, nisîmî," itwîw mistâpîw, "mahti-kitimâkinawin. mistahi ninîstosin ikwa namôtha ninôhtî-nistâpâwân. kakî-âsowahothin nâ?""Hey, younger sibling," says Sasquatch. "Please take pity on me. I am getting tired and I don't want to drown. Can you take me across?"
"âhâw, nistîsî," itwîw miskinâhk, "ispâhtawîw nispiskwanihk. kika-âsowahothitin. nîpawi nispiskwanihk ikosi nawac kika-kisîkocininaw.""Okay, older brother," says the turtle. "Climb on my back. I'll take you across. But stand up so in that way we can go faster."
ikwâni ikosi kâ-itôtahk wîsahkîcâhk. ispahtawîw ospiskwanithihk miskinâhkwa, î-âsowahothikot.And so that is what wîsahkîcâhk does. He climbs on the back of the turtle, standing on his back, as it carries him across.
kâ-wâpamikot îsa opakitahwâwa, mâmaskâtamwak!Some fishermen saw him and they were in awe!
"cîsta nâha kistîsinaw mistâpîw î-pimohtît waskic nipîhk!"Look! Our older brother Sasquatch is walking on water!"
