There are literally dozens of culture camps going on this summer all across nêhiyaw-askiy. This one is special because it’s the first one offered by Manitoba Indigenous Cultural Education Centre (and all our wonderful colleagues there) to be focused on ininíwi pimátisiwim: Cree Life. It is exciting to see these committed, energetic young men and women – with guidance from Elder Ellen Cook – go out and grab what is rightfully theirs, bringing their communities along in their wake. (see poster, above, for details, and registration information below):
MÁMAWÍWIN; néhináwéwak/ininiwak (cree gathering); ininiwi pimatisiwin, 2025, hosted by the Manitoba Indigenous Cultural Education Centre, will be taking place on August 22-23, 2025 in St. Francois Xavier, Manitoba.
The registration deadline is 11:59pm, August 4th.
Please complete and submit the form below before 11:59pm on August 4, 2025.

Congratulations to all involved on finding a good way to make this happen, in spite of the wild fires that have displaced so many Cree communities up north. I hope you all feel the power and possibility arising from your time together! (I would be there myself if I could, but my August travel is already booked!)
