kiyânaw Transcribe

Quoting Dené Sinclair of the MICEC Transcription Society (who could teach lessons in cool):

Check out this amazing system developed by some of the coolest Cree cats that I know. I have tested and used this a bit for Anishinaabemowin – I know one day we’ll get integrated into this cool transcription software too.*

Transcription is one of the best learning tools for me at this point in my journey. So thankful for all these awesome folks in the language learning community coming up with our own solutions and finding ways to support each other. Aaron James Fay way to go!

Congratulations to Aaron Fay on this exciting news. The new release of this Really Useful tool maintains all of its original functionality, but adds all kinds of new features, and limitless possibilities just waiting to be explored for Cree and Ojibwe, and for Indigenous languages that don’t even know yet how very helpful this tool is about to become. If you haven’t already given it a try, today might be the day! You can find it at https://kiyanaw.net/transcribe/.

  • Please note that Dené’s initial remarks have been upgraded, from “I know one day we’ll get integrated into this cool transcription software too” to “Anishinaabemowin demands to be included in the next round of language intake!” Sure hope you’re listening, Aaron!
