Dr Charlotte Ross: Adult Silent Speakers: A nihithaw Perspective

As Dr Charlotte Ross writes in her University of Victoria dissertation abstract:

Silent speakers are an untapped resource in the quest for Indigenous language revitalization and are poised to contribute in many ways as they possess a partial to a complete understanding of their Indigenous language including intonation, pitch and pronunciation.

It’s a particular privilege, then, to see her fine work available online, to anyone who might benefit from it. That includes not only silent speakers, but anyone involved in language recovery. And the content provided includes not only the a downloadable copy of her written dissertation, but three podcast recordings which contributed to the research. (I’m looking forward to listening!)
