The First wîsahkîcâhk Story: The Rolling Head: Solomon Ratt

Thanks to Solomon Ratt for taking extra time and effort to prepare for this Storytelling Month. He has already prepared read along video, and even prepped a print book (with English and Cree text on facing pages) – presented here as a free PDF download – to help support read along for individuals or in the classroom. And while he deserves to be proud of this work, he may be proudest of all of his granddaughter Ailah Carpenter, who produced original illustrations to support it all.

As a further support and non-electronic classroom tool, Sol also prepared the attached PDF of the story. It’s free for teachers and language learners to download and print. If you print it double-sided, you’ll find a booklet with facing Cree and English pages. Whether you choose to watch, or listen, read along, or read independently, we hope you’ll enjoy this celebration of resilience and survival.
