What a thrill to share this invitation from AFN National Chief Cindy Woodhouse Nepinak, to come to Parliament Hill to stand witness and help celebrate a Cree baby’s first steps on the earth. To see a young family’s celebration brought to Parliament Hill is a beautiful reflection of miyo-pimâtisiwin: living in a good way. This is surely a moment of tremendous joy and pride for people from every corner of nêhiyaw-askiy: Cree country. (And I really hope those who are there take lots of pictures for those of us sending love and good wishes from the four directions. I’ll be watching for some good ones to add to this post for our collective memory!)
