Last night, on the road home from Regina, I was sad *not* to hear Tammy Rae’s Here With Me (êya ôta ayâw) on the MCI Indigenous Music Countdown. It had been Number One just last week! I’ve been on the road in Cree country, and frequently out of wifi range. Heck, I never even got a chance to vote until today! So even though I’m late, I’m posting now, cuz it’s kinda a big deal yenno” (as Ira Swindler might say!)
Here’s to you, Tammy Rae, from all of your Cree Literacy Network friends and fans: tâpwê kihci! kimamihcihinân! “Truly great! You make us proud!”
Now. Here’s the thing about hit music countdowns: it’s never too late to request a song on the radio, or to vote some more and push the song back up the chart. And it’s certainly not too late to acknowledge Tammy Rae’s accomplishment with pride.
